This week, we kicked off our English theme for the next few weeks with a circus day! We are going to be studying a book called 'Leon and the Place Between', which focuses heavily on circuses and magic. The children started off by watching some videos of traditional circus acts, alongside some cirque du soleil performances. This gave them a feel for what a circus would be like if they had never seen one before.
The classes rotated over the morning and we had a variety of activities going on. In Mrs Maffucci's class, the children did some ribbon dancing and choreographed their own routines before showing them to the rest of the class. The children all showed great enthusiasm towards this and came up with some fantastic routines.
In Miss Bradley's class, the children all made their own clown mask using paints. They all made sure to use bright colours and because of this the masks really stood out.
Finally, in Miss Penfold's class, the children all had the opportunity to have a go at juggling. This required a lot of resillience, especially when the beanbags kept dropping on the floor!
Overall, the day was a success and we hope the children will be able to reflect upon the day when they are doing work surrounding the class text. They all had a smile on their face from start to finish and we hope they all came home and told you about their day!
