Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hi Year 2!

We feel so proud of you for all of your hard work at home. We loved listening to you share your writing on zoom last week and have received lots more fantastic pictures for our blog. Thank you! Keep sending them in to year2-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk

The focus for our zoom calls this week is Your Artwork. We would love to see any arts and crafts that you have created while you have been learning from home! Paintings, drawings, models, collages...you name it, we'd like to see it!

To make this page a little easier to navigate, we have added a separate page for this week's phonics resources, and a page for the maths resources you will need for the White Rose maths lessons (see homework mat for more details)

There is also a new tab on the Year 2 homepage called Picture News. Each week we will upload a new resource for you to look at and discuss with your families. There is more information on the Picture News page. This week is all about stars!

As always, don't forget to check out the stories page to see if your teachers have uploaded a new video, or added more chapters of Danny the Champion of the World.

If you're looking for some extra ideas to keep you busy this week, Save the Children have a lot of lovely activities on their website. https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/what-we-do/coronavirus-information-advice/keeping-kids-entertained-during-lockdown

We particularly liked their den-making ideas https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=X3Tu6_2efyE&feature=emb_logo

And their video of Bruno from Strictly teaching some classic dance moves! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=IRvuhtx8mVg&feature=emb_logo

We have also attached information on some fun orienteering activities you could do at home.

We hope you enjoy all of your activities this week and look forward to hearing all about them.

Take care and enjoy the sunshine!

Miss Whitney, Miss Anderson and Miss Handley

PS. We have included the sign-in information for Letterjoin, which follows the Heymann cursive handwriting style.
