Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hi 3P,

This is our first week of home learning in Year 3 and so things are very new. We are trying really hard to gauge the right amount of work set so we hope this timetable works.

In maths this week, we are starting to recap Year 2 place value to get us ready for Year 3 place value. Some of your children may find this easy, some may find it a little tricky. All I ask is that you try your best and give it a go. Before we move onto Year 3 place value, we have to make sure all the children have a good recap and understanding of Year 2 place value. If you're child get's through the activity quickly, they can practice their 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

In English this week, we have started looking at a book called The Invisible Boy. We have done lots of talking about the story and the characters and their feelings throughout the book. Our focus around this book is friendship so both fo our activities this week are linked to being a good friend and applying that understanding to different situations.

In topic we are starting to look at the Stone Age. We would love for you to do some research on this era and see what you can find out. It is a 2 week topic and you will have time next week in your timetable to do some more research so don't feel like it needs to be done all in one week.

On Friday afternoon, we will be doing our Jigsaw lessons which are a new SMSC scheme. This half terms topic is 'Being me in my world' and we will be doing lesson 1 this week. The children will be thinking about achievements that they are proud of and setting goals for the year.

If there are any questions regarding anything, please feel free to email year me on : year3-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk

I hope you have a good week and look forward to seeing you on zoom.

Stay safe,
