Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hello Year 5!

This week we will welcome some of you back to school and we are very much looking forward to this happy event!  However, for those of you not back with us, we will still be thinking of you and hope that you will continue to get in touch with us via year5-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk and by submitting work on Teams.

To help those returning next week, Mrs Reed and some of the Year 5 children who have been in school, have made a video presentation about what it is like.  Please click here to view it.

The home working mat looks slightly different as a result of this change in circumstances.  You will see that four of the boxes are highlighted yellow.  This is the work that we will definitely be doing in school.  See below for details of how you should complete tasks depending on your situation:

Keyworker Children in School Throughout the Week

Mrs Johnson will cover most of the tasks from the mat with you in school, including the assignments on Teams.  She will discuss with you at the beginning of the week what will be covered and when so that you can decide which tasks you will need to complete at home on the days you are not in.

Children not in school at all

Try to complete as many tasks from the mat as possible.  Prioritise submitting the assignments on Teams by Wednesday at midday for feedback from your teacher.

Children attending school Monday and Tuesday

You will complete the yellow box tasks in school and then be given a pack of resources relating to the remaining tasks on the mat.  The teacher you are working with - Mrs Mackdermott or Mrs Reed - may also ask you to finish work started in school at home.  Make sure you do this and bring it back for the following week. You will still be expected to complete and return the assignments on Teams and will need to fit this in on Monday or Tuesday after school, or on Wednesday morning since the assignments are due by midday.

Children attending school Thursday and Friday

Once again, the yellow box tasks will be done in school so please do not do these activities at home. The teacher you are working with - Mrs Mackdermott or Mrs Reed - may also ask you to finish work started in school at home.  Make sure you do this and bring it back for the following week.

You can work on the other tasks on three days you are not in, making sure you prioritise the Teams assignments. You will be given a pack of print outs on Friday so that you have work to do the following Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  If you want to wait for this pack, then avoid completing the spellings, Spanish, mental maths and sun safety activities at the start of this week.  Instead you can use activities from BBC Bitesize, the Oak National Academy as well as the White Rose Maths (worksheets in the usual place).

Hopefully, this all makes sense but if not then please contact us on the address given above and we will do our best to help.
