Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hello Year 5,

Hope this finds everyone safe and well.  How was your 3 day weekend?  Hopefully you have enjoyed the fine weather and found some way to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.  We have celebrated by talking with family about relatives who lived through the day itself, making and displaying bunting, and of course by eating scones and cake!

Thank you to all of you who have sent photos and updates this week. We have loved seeing your work, especially the VE Day research, postcards and medals.  Remember the address to send things to is year5-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk.

Zoom Meetings By now we have had two Zoom meetings which have been well attended; all of the staff involved have loved seeing your faces and hearing your updates,  All meetings will be on again at the same time next week.  However, each class has a different theme for sharing:

5L - Please be ready to share any VE Day work you have produced and to talk about how you celebrated.

5P - Be prepared to talk about a book you have read whilst being in lockdown.

5T - What have you learnt about Ramadan this week? Be ready to talk about this important Islamic event.

This week's work Please find below this week's home working mat and activities.  Remember, it is not necessary to print everything out.  Just display the worksheet on your screen and complete the tasks in your book.  A new book can be collected from the school if yours is full.  Contact the office to arrange this.

White Rose Maths There has been some confusion over which week you should be following.  There are now 6 weeks worth of activities.  It does not matter really which week you are working on.  However, it is important to note that Week 1 (not Summer Week 1) through to Summer Week 2 covers Decimals which is a topic we have not done in school yet so it is a good idea for you to work through these.  The most recent two weeks, with the exception of the perimeter and area lessons, are revision of work we had done.  Just try to do at least 5 lessons a week.  Also, worksheets for the most recent weeks can be found on our White Rose Page.

Have a good week everyone, best wishes the Year 5 Team x x x
