Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hello Year 5,

Hope you are all well and enjoyed last week’s tasks. Remember anything you are particularly proud of please share with us using year5-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk - we love seeing what you having been getting up to!

There are some interesting pieces of work to get stuck into this week; from learning more about rivers on an exciting new website, creating your own workout to suit you and maybe even teach it to your family.  Remember keeping fit is not only good for our bodies but also our mind. We are continuing our life cycles topic in science, looking carefully at pollination. Alongside this, the whole school task learning about World Environment Day. Busy Busy!

There is also the new story from J.K.Rowling for you to continue reading online called The Ickabog.  You seem to be loving it from the comments we have received. She will be publishing several chapters at a time over the next 7 weeks in an effort to get us through the next part of lockdown.

Remember that the work on the mat is a guide and completing the tasks and earning your 20 stars should be enough to keep you learning.  However, if you want to do more then the Oak National Academy lessons are also worth a look.

White Rose Maths and MyMaths

We have had a few enquiries about where to find the worksheets for these lessons.  Please select the White Rose Maths tab on the right to find all worksheets and answers from week commencing 4.5.20 up to this week.  As the work on White Rose is mostly revision of what we have covered in school at the moment, we are using MyMaths plus some other challenge materials to introduce topics not yet covered in school.  At the moment, the focus here is units of mass. Please encourage your child to complete their MyMaths tasks - we have noticed a significant drop off rate with the use of this.

The children’s Maths No Problem Workbook 2 will also be available for collection from the school office from Tuesday next week.  You will be receiving an email outlining the details of the procedures for this soon. It is not essential for this to be completed it is just to be an extra resource if you wish to use it.

Try your best, continue to work hard and stay safe this week Year 5 ... Best wishes, the Year 5 Team x x x
