Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Monday 8th February 2021

Welcome to another new week of learning - our final week of this half term and we hope you are all keeping well. This week you will see we are having a focus on Internet safety to tie in with the national Internet safety day on Tuesday 9th February (albeit our focus day will be Wednesday 10th February). Along with the activities we have planned, please explore this link for more information on internet safety for parents/carers along with extra family friendly activities: Safer internet

Please find attached the home learning timetable to use this week. This will be mirrored for those attending school and therefore please stick to the days stated on the timetable when working at home. As for previous weeks, we have set the learning as a morning of Maths then English, with an afternoon of topic or something else. The attachments in each relevant subfolder all link to the activities stated on the timetable. Please select the maths activity at the correct level for your learning (as you know from maths lessons) - if it is too difficult then go down a level and use any video links and powerpoints to help guide you.

If you have revision guides at home, then by all means also use these to help you as appropriate.

For those of you learning at home, we will have a daily zoom call starting at 9:30am so that you have regular access to a Year 6 teacher.  The focus for these calls is indicated on the home learning timetable and you will be guided through the activities for the day ahead.  We are so proud of you all for coping with the current situation and it is a delight to see so many of you on the zooms, participating so actively.

As shown on the home learning timetable (denoted with a *), there will be three assignments set on Teams this week (on Monday, Wednesday and Friday).  We would prefer you to submit all works via teams - if you need a refresher on how to do this please watch the video on our webpage. If you are still unable to access teams please contact the Year6 team via email to: year6-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk  and we will provide an alternative. The resources for these assignments are attached on this webpage, along with being attached to the relevant Teams assignment.

Added extras :  Below are attached some morning challenges, including a word of the day that you might be able to use in your English tasks, for each day of the week.  These are nice starter activities to do before your daily zoom call - to wake your brain up or when you have a spare 5 minutes. We have also attached a weekly PE challenge which will be great fun to keep you and all of your family active - also remember our weekly Heymann Hitt session with Miss Penfold via zoom ( link e mailed to parents)  every Thursday at 4pm.

Finally : We do hope that you and your families are continuing to keep safe and well. We do miss you so much and hope to see you all back in school very soon. Please remember that it is half term next week and make sure you all have a break and relax - you have all worked so hard either at home or school over what has once again been a very unusual time for us all.

Take care Year 6
