Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Monday 1st March 2021

Welcome back to your last week of learning before we return to school, We are beyond delighted at the prospect at seeing all of your lovely faces in school and hope you are equally excited about school opening its doors in full again.

Please find attached the home learning timetable to use this week. This will be mirrored for those attending school and therefore please stick to the days stated on the timetable when working at home. As for previous weeks, we have set the learning as a morning of Maths then English (aside from Wednesday), with an afternoon of topic or something else. Our focus for Thursday and Friday this week is World Book Day. There is an amazing story linked from the storyteller (recorded just for Heymann KS2) for Thursday and a fantastic BBC Teach guided lesson for you to work through on Friday all about 'His Dark Materials' (Philip Pullman). The attachments in each relevant subfolder all link to the activities stated on the timetable. Please select the maths activity at the correct level for your learning (as you know from maths lessons) - if it is too difficult then go down a level and use any video links and powerpoints to help guide you.

For those of you learning at home, we will have a daily zoom call starting at 9:30am so that you have regular access to a Year 6 teacher.  The focus for these calls is indicated on the home learning timetable and you will be guided through the activities for the day ahead.

As shown on the home learning timetable (denoted with a *), there will be just two assignments set on Teams this week (on Monday and Wednesday), due to the return to school next Monday.  We would prefer you to submit all works via teams - if you need a refresher on how to do this please watch the video on our webpage. If you are still unable to access teams please contact the Year6 team via email to: year6-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk  and we will provide an alternative. The resources for these assignments are attached on this webpage, along with being attached to the relevant Teams assignment.

Added extras :  Below are attached some morning challenges, including a word of the day that you might be able to use in your English tasks, for each day of the week.  These are nice starter activities to do before your daily zoom call - to wake your brain up or when you have a spare 5 minutes. Also attached are a few activities you could try as part of your return to school countdown and don't forget our weekly Heymann Hitt session with Miss Penfold via zoom ( link e mailed to parents)  every Thursday at 4pm.

Finally: We have missed you such a lot.  We hope you are all keeping well and cannot wait to see you next week.

see you next week! - Happy Homer | Make a Meme

Take care Year 6
