Last week, year 3 stepped back in time and went to visit a Stone Age historical site in North Nottingham. The children were split into different animal tribes and took part in 4 activities throughout the day. 
we visited a real Stone Age cave that was used thousands of years ago by Stone Age people for shelter. We even turned our head torches off to get an idea of what it would really be like. 
Then we became palaeontologists and examined animal bones. We have to use a diagram to put the bones in the correct places and work out which Ice Age animal we were looking at. 
In the afternoon, we took a walk around the gorge and tried to imagine what life would be like roaming and hunting for food. Then we put our survival skills to the test and found out how hard it would be to throw spears at animals. We also had a go at making tents out of animal fur and sticks and found out it's not as easy as it looks. It needed real teamwork. 
All the children had a brilliant day and could remember so much about the Stone Age. They represented Heymann so well and should be really proud of themselves.
