On Wednesday, Year 3 were finally able to return to Twycross Zoo after a 2 year Covid hiatus! We all had a talk from one of the staff members and they taught us all about the 4 layers of the rainforest and which animals can be found in each layer. He then invited us all up to the front to explore some feel/smell boxes and to see if we could guess what was inside. It turned out that all of the items were things that we use every day that have materials that come from the rainforest such as a mobile phone, toilet paper and coffee!
We then got to venture round the zoo and see some of the animals. We had been learning all about different biomes in Geography so it was interesting to see where each animal lived! We made sure to keep an eye out for all the animals that lived in South America. We loved going inside Lorikeet Landing and feeding some nectar to the Lorikeets (some of us were more scared than others when the Lorikeets landed on us!). Overall, it was a fantastic day with lots of learning and laughter.
