We have been investigating how friction works and how different surfaces cause different amounts of friction. We conducted an experiment where we put a car down a ramp which was covered with either sandpaper, wood, carpet and foam. We learnt that the rougher and bumpier the surface is, the more friction is created and the slower the car will travel.
