For our science investigation, we are doing a demonstration of how teeth can be affected by different liquids/drinks. We are using eggshell to represent our teeth, and putting it in milk, vinegar, water, orange juice and coca-cola! Our investigation question is 'if I change the type of liquid, what will happen to the eggshell?'
We made sure it was a fair test by using the same amount of liquid and eggshell. After that, we made a prediction about what we thought would happen to the eggshell and which liquid would cause the biggest change. We will be observing what happens over the week and writing up our final results on Friday!
Friday:
We found out the results of our investigation today. The biggest change was to the eggshell in the vinegar! The children all explained that the vinegar had acid in it which had broken down the eggshell. They were able to link it to stomach acid from our digestive system topic. We were so impressed with the children's scientific knowledge!
