The girls football team have been busy over the 2 weeks competing in the Rushcliffe cup. They played their round 2 game against Greythorn School which turned out to be a very tense game.
Both teams started the game strong however Greythorn pulled away and got past our defence to score 2 early goals making 2-0. At half time, the girls had a breather and got their energy levels back up. They started the second half with such enthusiasm which was rewarded with an early goal. Heymann has most the possession into he second half, with Evie our goal making some great saves. Superstar Holly had a good chance near the end of the game and shot from outside the box. It flew into the top right corner making it 2-2, meaning extra time was upon us.
The girls played 10 minutes of extra time and did not stop for the whole time. They got a corner right before the whistle blew which was crossed in by Holly. The ball was defected off a Greythorn playing allowing the game to finish 3-2 to Heymann meaning they were into the quarter finals.
The quarter finals was played on Monday night against Edwalton away. It was such a fantastic game and the girls were unlucky to score any girls. They had lots of shots on target but we couldn't quite get them passed the keeper. The game finished 2-0 to Edwalton but the girls should be so proud of how far they have got in the Rushcliffe cup.
