Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

We would like you to learn all about another very important nurse this week.

Her name was Mary Seacole and she was a nurse at the same time as Florence Nightingale. She faced a lot of discrimination because of the colour of her skin and she made a huge difference in nursing.

These websites all have more information about Mary:

You could also watch these videos to learn more about Mary:

There is also a PowerPoint and fact sheets on this webpage, all about Mary Seacole's life.

Finally, Miss Whitney has recorded herself reading a book about Mary Seacole. The link to listen to this is at the bottom of this page. Technical issues- keep checking back to see whether it's working!

Any of these sources will help you learn about Mary Seacole so that you can make your poster or fact sheet.
