Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

We hope you have all had a peaceful and safe holiday - thank you for all the positive comments we have received about the Nativity film; the children worked very hard.  It is great to welcome you back to Reception this Spring Term.

We are very excited about our new topics - especially finding out about where we live, different types of houses and the story of the 3 Little Pigs. Please look at our Talk Task sheet for more information.

We would love your child to bring in a used cardboard box, no bigger than a cereal box, in the first week back as we are all making a representation of where we live.

In PE we will be learning some ball skills, so don't forget to return your child's PE kit to school by Friday.

We know many of our Reception children are isolating at home this week. If they are well enough, and you are able, there are a few things you could do at home with them.

MATHS: Home Learning | White Rose Maths if you follow this link to the White Rose home learning page you will be able to engage with some maths activities to help your child.

PHONICS: This week we have been learning the phonemes "oo" (as in moon), "oo" (as in book), "ar" (as in car) and "or" (as in fork). See if your child can learn to recognise each of these sounds and write them in simple words like boot, cook, farm, corn. Can they write a simple caption or sentence to go with a picture? eg: the moon is bright.

ENGLISH: make a story map similar to the story of the 3 Little Pigs. You can change which animals are in the story, what type of houses they build or maybe change the wolf to a different character.

READING: don't forget you can read the books on BUG CLUB too.
