Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

We hope you have all had a peaceful and safe holiday - thank you for all the positive comments we have received about the Nativity film; the children worked very hard.  It is great to welcome you back to Reception this Spring Term.

We are very excited to learn about China, the similarities and differences to where we live and to find out about Chinese New Year. Please look at our Talk Task sheet for more information.

Please remember that we are wearing red on Friday the 4th of February. If your child would like to they can wear red and we will be creating our own dragon dance in PE.

We know many of our Reception children are isolating at home this week. If they are well enough, and you are able, there are a few things you could do at home with them.

MATHS: Home Learning | White Rose Maths if you follow this link to the White Rose home learning page you will be able to engage with some maths activities to help your child.

PHONICS: This week we will be learning the phonemes "air" (as in hair), "ear" (as in ear) and "ure" (as in measure). See if your child can learn to recognise each of these sounds and write them in simple words like fair, chair, hear and clear. Can they write a simple caption or sentence to go with a picture? eg: the fair is fun or the chair is big.

ENGLISH: Chinese New Year. We are writing a simple caption or sentence about a picture. See below for the story of the animals who raced to be the first to have a year named after them. Can you write about one of the animals?

READING: don't forget you can read the books on BUG CLUB too.
