Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Monday 18th May 2020

Thank you to all of those who joined our class zoom calls last week – it really is a super way to keep in touch.  As a reminder, 6T’s call is at 1pm on Tuesday, 6L’s call is at 6pm on Tuesday and 6P’s call is at 10am on Friday. Please join us next week where we will discuss any further Disney work and ask you to read us an extract from one of your free writes, if you are happy to.

We have set a new homeworking mat for this week with many tasks – the pizza instructions and making is a 2 week task so can flow into half term week. We hope you enjoy the activities and look forward to seeing your photos (don't forget to send a photo for the Heymann blog to and hearing whether you achieved your 20 stars.

Please find below the latest 'Picture News' for you to read, listen, share and discuss at home. This week's Picture News is all about Outer Space. We also attach the log-in details for the letter-join handwriting scheme in case anyone is still having difficulties in logging on.

We hope you are still enjoying listening to ‘Wonder’. Two new chapters continue to be uploaded every day.

We are conscious that this last week should have been SATs week.  We have been thinking of you all and this poem is for you:

A Poem for Year 6 children - class of 2020 🤗 🌈

This is the week that SATs would have started,

The classroom set up and the tables parted,

The rules on the board, the display walls all covered,

Your workbooks away, out of sight in the cupboard,

Instead you are home, you’re doing your bit,

Protecting your families from getting sick,

It’s important right now, we’re in lockdown you see,

Being a part of world history,

You’ve all worked so hard, you should be so proud,

You’ve practised your SPAG and times tables out loud,

You’ve learnt algebra to the Nth degree,

And now the tests, they will no longer be,

Some may be sad that they can’t take the tests,

“Hip hip hooray,” I’ve no doubt said the rest,

Whilst the tests are on hold and you stay home this term,

Remember that tests can’t measure everything you learn,

And I don’t need SATs results to tell me,

How hard you have worked, it’s easy to see,

'Lockdown' Year 6, let me shout it out loud,

You’ve made all your teachers so very proud,

So please continue to learn, fill that brain up full,

And remember, we think you’re all wonderful! 💕

Take care year 6
