Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Week Beginning Monday 20th April

Hello lovely Year 5 children!

We hope that you and your families have enjoyed the last two weeks and continue to keep safe and well.  Did the Easter Bunny visit?  Hopefully you haven't polished off all your chocolate eggs yet!  Talking of eggs, how did you get on with the Easter egg challenge we set?  Fingers crossed you have had a go at some of the activities.  Maybe you created a fabulous poster for the RE task?  Or maybe you are the keepy-upy champion in your household?  Or perhaps you made some delicious Easter treats for your family to enjoy?  Whatever you managed to do, hopefully you are continuing to try and make the most of this time at home and to develop your skills in some way or other.

Thank you so much for the emails we have received showing what you some of you have been up to; we love being able to read your work and see photos of your activities and smiley faces (which we are very much missing!).  Remember the email address to send these to is year5-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk.  You can take a look at some of the photos that have been sent to us by selecting the 'What Year 5 Have Been Up To At Home' tab on the right.  Photos will be uploaded to here at least once a week so be patient if yours hasn't appeared just yet.  Also, make sure you let us know if you do not want the photos you send to us to be put on the website.

This week's work

Below is this week's home learning grid and resources to support.  As it is now the start of the summer term, we are beginning the Ancient Greeks topic with a look at how life was different for children growing up in either Athens or Sparta which were the two most important city states at the time.  There are two documents below with information about this theme but for more general background information on this topic, use the link below:

Once again, remember the grid is just a guide.  You should complete as much as your parents think is right - they are your teachers for now!  Please use the above email address if there are any problems or queries.

Good luck!  Mrs Johnson, Mrs Mackdermott & Mrs Reed x x x
