Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hey, did you know that this week there is a special day to celebrate VE day? It's a very important event in world history.  You may even be having small celebrations yourself? Have lots of chats at home about VE day on Friday, see what they’ve got to tell you on Newsround. Next week we’ll be sharing some activities. You could also watch this song on Horrible Histories:

Hello Year 4!

It was brilliant to see so many of you on Zoom last week. Remember, we are going to have a Zoom get together every week now, on the same day at the same time. We asked you to think of a Viking fact to share for this week. How's that going?

On this week's homeworking mat we are continuing with A Midsummer Night's Dream for one more week, there are 3 tasks to choose from. We're still learning about the Vikings, with some art and history work.

We have a new set of words for you to learn for this week's spelling and we would like you to continue to practise your handwriting and French. Madame Cameron sent some new Spanish words for you to learn!

Your Maths tasks are available on the White Rose Maths website. Please follow the link on the homeworking mat, we're now on Week 2 - (NOT Week 2 Summer). Please try to complete all the lessons for the week along with the daily arithmetic.  We have set homework on MyMaths as usual.

We all understand that every family and home is different, and we all enjoy doing different things. The homeworking mat gives you a guide and some ideas of what to do. If you need to adapt activities or do something different we would love to hear about that too.

Please keep emailing your fantastic photos to us at year4-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk It's better to use this address rather than the  school office so that all of the Y4 teachers can see what you've been doing.

Finally, each week we will be sending out a 'Picture News' which is a current News story with an image and a question for everyone at home to read, listen to, share and discuss at home. The questions encourage children to discuss and form their own opinions. This week's Picture News is all about Colonel Tom Moore and his amazing achievements for our National Health Service. There are 2 useful links to videos to watch.

We hope that are all well. Keep smiling and helping each other.

Love from Miss Goswami, Mrs Jenkins and Mr Murray
