Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hello, Year 1!

We hope that you have enjoyed your first week of Easter half term and have given some of the activities a go on your Heymann Easter Egg challenge. How many eggs have you collected? What has been your favourite activity so far? Now you have one more week to complete your activities and collect all of the Easter eggs! If you have completed them all then there are a few extra activities on this page for you to give try.

Remember that the teachers would really love to hear from you so if you have any pictures you would like to share with us please send them to year1-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk. We will put them up on the blog on Fridays so you can share them with your friends too!

Over the holidays, we would also like you to keep up your daily reading. This could be reading a story, comic book, recipe book or even sharing a story with someone you live with. We have lots of useful website links on our page or below where you can find different ways to share stories together.

We're going on a bear hunt!

As an extra activity this Easter we are asking you to use your brilliant artistic skills to create a picture of a bear to put up in your window. Then, as people are walking around your local area, they can go on a bear hunt and see how many they can find. This is a lovely way to spread some joy and make people smile!

Extra Easter activities:

  • Nottingham City Transport are holding a story writing competition all about their mascot character Buster. If you enjoy writing stories, give it a go and see if you can be a published author!  There are also other activities all about Buster on this page: https://www.nctx.co.uk/buster

  • Design an Easter hat. Draw your own or use the template below and send us a picture when you have finished.

  • See if you can get any ideas from the Lego website to create some arts and crafts. https://www.lego.com/en-gb/kids

  • Have a go at some Easter-themed Cosmic Yoga to keep healthy and active! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNrIB6O_Abo

  • We can all feel a little bit worried or anxious sometimes, so why not give this relaxing mindfulness video a go! Some of you will have already practised it at school and it is a good way to take some time for yourselves, be calm and relaxed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf5K3pP2IUQ

  • Lings Bar Hospital in Gamston are asking to receive letters to cheer up their patients. Read the letter below to find out more about how you can help!

Wishing you all the best,

The Year 1 team x
