Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Hey, did you know that this week there is a special day to celebrate VE day? It's a very important event in world history.  You may even be having small celebrations yourself? Have lots of chats at home about VE day on Friday, see what they’ve got to tell you on Newsround. Next week we’ll be sharing some activities. You could also watch this song on Horrible Histories:

You can also follow this link to watch a free 1940's virtual swing concert this weekend!

Hi Year 1,

We hope that you have enjoyed the start of our new Field to Fork topic and found out all about where your food comes from. How many stars did you manage to collect? What was your favourite activity?

This week, you will have more fun activities based around food, as well as a DT project and some interesting geography online!

It was lovely to see so many of you in our Zoom meetings last week and we hope to see you again this week. We have also been amazed by the number of lovely pictures you have been sending us of your hard work and exciting activities at home.

As part of your mat activities this week, you have been asked to complete the initial reading assessment on Scholastic Reading Pro. There is a PDF below with parent instructions (it is the same as the one emailed to you) but if you have any questions about it, please feel free to email us. We know that some of you have already completed this, so your task will be to choose and read a book from the Scholastic Library.

We look forward to seeing your fantastic work this week!

Keep happy and healthy

Love,

The Year 1 Team x

P.S. Please, remember that you do not have to print out all of the sheets provided or the home learning mat. You can copy the sheets into your exercise book and draw and colour your own stars to collect them if that is easier for you.
