Heymann Primary & Nursery School

Inspiring and motivating our children
to be the best they can be

Monday 27th April 2020

Hello everyone and we hope that you enjoyed the introduction to the new topic last week. There was a lot for you to get stuck into, so I am sure you had no problem collecting all your stars! Thank you to those who have sent their weekly picture in…don’t forget to send yours to year6-teachers@heymann.notts.sch.uk

As well as all the work we have got lined up for you this week there are a few new exciting opportunities you can get involved with. These are not on the learning mat this week, but we hope that you have a look and explore them anyway.

Reading

For reading there is the SORA reading app and the Scholastic reading pro website - https://educator-slz03.scholasticlearningzone.com/slz-portal/#/login3/GBRRF98. Details of these have been emailed separately and both look like great ways to enjoy more reading and access books.

We hope that you enjoyed ‘The Switching Hour’. Ms Nash and Miss Bussey are starting a new audio book (Wonder) for you to enjoy so make sure that you check out the new page for that one!

Chess

We have also secured a free 3 month membership to a chess puzzle and games website. This looks great. You can complete puzzles; mini games and you don’t need to have played chess before to enjoy this one. Once you are logged in you can also play against each other. All you have to do is create a free account here https://www.chesskid.com/register/kid/group/PT9T7N

Zoom

We hope to see you all at the zoom meetings this week. All the details have been emailed out and it will be a great opportunity for us to all catch up as a class. Don’t worry if you can’t make it this week as we will be doing one each week.

Take care year 6

Miss Bussey, Ms Nash, Mr Arch & Mrs Hardman
