Welcome to our First Talk Task!
These short activities are designed to give you an insight into what your child is learning in nursery and provide simple ways to continue those conversations and experiences at home.
Talk Tasks are not intended to be formal homework. Instead, they help children develop their speaking, listening, thinking and communication skills by encouraging them to chat with family members about familiar topics. Whether discussing a story we have shared, exploring a seasonal change, practising new vocabulary or reflecting on something they have enjoyed at nursery, these conversations help reinforce learning and build confidence.
Alongside our Talk Tasks, we also share blog posts every few weeks to give families a glimpse into life in nursery. We know that children often tell us they have had a “good day” but can sometimes struggle to explain exactly what they have been doing! Our blogs help show the exciting activities, experiences and learning opportunities that take place throughout the term.
It is important to remember that our blog posts are designed to represent the broad range of learning taking place across the nursery rather than focusing on individual children. Not every child has permission to appear on the blog, and we always ensure that we follow our school procedures regarding photographs and permissions. The blogs are intended to showcase the types of activities children have been exploring, whether that is learning outdoors, developing physical skills, engaging in creative projects, building friendships, or discovering something new through play.
We hope that both our Talk Tasks and blog posts help strengthen the connection between home and nursery. By sharing what we are learning and celebrating the wonderful experiences taking place each week, we can work together to support your child’s development and make their learning journey even more meaningful.
