Girls’ Football Club

Wednesday 3.20 – 4.15pm

Girls’ Football Club is available to all Heymann girls in years 5 and 6 by Miss Penfold.

Girls’ football club is a great opportunity for girls to enjoy playing football without boys! The club has really grown over the last few years and is now a popular after school activity. The girls will be developing an understanding of the game, learning new skills and have an opportunity to play team games.

The club runs in the first half of the autumn term and starts again in the second half of spring term until the end of the summer Term. Some children from the club are selected for local and countywide games and tournaments.

Heymann Green Group are a small but dedicated group of pupils and staff who are passionate about our school grounds, sustainable living, recycling and growing food. There are children from each class – we meet every week and feed back Eco-issues to our classes.

We’ve looked at what Heymann do well and what we don’t do so well and are writing an action plan.

This term our focus is litter and recycling – do you know we already have recycle bins for; paper, plastic, metal, batteries, spectacles, milk lids, pens, stamps and clothes.

The gardening club also looks after our school allotment, growing a wide variety of crops which we look forward to selling at the end of the year. All profit made goes to new seeds for the following year.

Welcome to ICT club. ICT club is open to year 6 pupils and runs all year on a Thursday after school from 3.20-4:30.pm.  We take part in lots of fun and exciting project such as video, podcasts, animations, taking computers apart, visits to the West Bridgford School to use their equipment… and much more!

Our award winning programme contains lots of stories, action chants, songs and games so that the children learn the language just like young French and Spanish children do and in the same way as they learnt their mother tongue.

Available to learn in either French or Spanish, children progress through the 4 programmes and over a 6 year period. There are 3 different starting points so children can start learning French or Spanish with La Jolie Ronde whatever their age following a programme tailored to their age group. The topics are based on real life situations suited to the interest, experience and social development of each age group

From day one children will speak their chosen language and as they progress through the programme they will begin to read and write independently.
La Jolie Ronde offers:

An opportunity to develop an enthusiasm for languages

  • Small classes and short sessions for your child to learn with children of his/her own age
  • An awareness of the country, its geography and culture
  • Guidance for parents to encourage and help your child at home
  • Carefully selected & trained tutors so your child can start learning from day one by imitating a good accent
  • Certificates awarded on completion of each programme
  • A record for parents on your child’s progress throughout the years with continuous check-lists and reports
  • An experience that will help your child at Secondary school, giving good grounding for future learning
  • Fun activity books covering a wide range of useful vocabulary with emphasis on oral communication Interactive learning CDs of games, stories & songs which complement the course & for use at home
  • Conversation, basic grammar, games, role-plays, rhymes & stories, making learning more fun

Recorder Club by Rattle and Roll is open to all our children.  The Club runs at lunchtimes on various days depending on what Year group the children are in.

The children learn how to play the recorder; how to read music and music theory too. Once they have learnt the basics they then learn to play songs they all recognise like Star Wars; Harry Potter and pop songs.

It’s a great introduction to music for the children.

As this club is run by an outside provider, there is a charge.

If you would like to find out more or would like your child to join please contact Rattle and Roll at enquiries@rattle-and-roll.co.uk

Netball Club is for both boys and girls.

It runs on Mondays after school from 3.20pm until 4.30pm. We go over to the West Bridgford School to use the netball courts there.
